Stanley and the Nut
Stanley is a great destination for a day trip from Boscobel. Stop in at Boat Harbour on the way and in season the tulip farm at Table Cape is magnificent. At Stanley you can climb or take a ride up the Nut and visit Highfield historic house. The quaint fishing village of Stanley is entrancing to wander around and has many cafes and specialist shops.
The beaches around Ulverstone are beautiful and great for walking and Swimming. The main beach at Ulverstone is patrolled by the local surf club with the Beach Hut cafe a short walk away.
Ulverstone and surrounds
There are some great cycling opportunities around Ulverstone, beautiful countryside and coastal routes. Your hosts at Boscobel are both keen cyclists and can recommend and direct you to many lovely rides for all levels of fitness. The mountain bike tracks at Penguin (10 minute drive from Boscobel) are really excellent and also suitable for different levels of skill and fitness.

Mount Montgomery is just one of the magnificent walks beginning just a 10 minute drive from Boscobel. The Dial Range of Mountains can be seen to the west of Ulverstone and most of the peaks are an excellent walk of 1.5 - 4 hours duration. Sturdy shoes and some fitness are required.
